You do not want to do 1.5 hr commuting , twice a day. As with the other query, possibly get a room to rent and only commute on the weekends?
I would suggest keep applying to "regular" industry jobs, wait for that job you mentioned but do not count on it. It is not a job offer and if they are in the middle of a merger, who knows the position may be withdrawn in the turmoil. Instead of taking another post doc, I would work full time on finding a regular job for some months. If you got that far with one company, perhaps you will get there with another. If things do not pan out you might consider anouther post doc but, I would not stop very actively applying and if offered a job, while working that temp job, quitting the temporary post-doc with 2 weeks notice. As for the time commitment being long, ask are they willing to write an iron clad contract guarenteeing you employment though this "expected" commitment time. More likely than not you will be just an at will employee, subject to dismissal without cause for any reason. You can work around them because you do not have to use them as references to bridge yourself to that "regular" industry job you seek.
