Graduate school is not industry experience. It's school. Deal with it and keep applying.
How can you look more like "industrial material"? Possibly hang out a lot with people in your target community and act like a chameleon. Fake normalcy. Dress like them, talk like them, adapt their psychology, language and body language. Fake it 'till you make it.
The language of your post suggests some feeling of entitlement because of your higher degree. That detracts from your projecting employability.
